When he burst onto the scene as a young man in 2007, Khune preferred ‘chiskop‘ more than anything but that changed as he grew older.

The 35-year-old switched from ‘chiskop‘ to haircuts, but he has now decided to bleach his hair blonde, and he looks more comfortable and confident in it.

Khune said he would snack every now and then without considering the consequences, and at the time, he would have at least six meals a day.

At some point, Khune weighed 94kg but he worked hard, through a specialised training programme provided by Chiefs to lose at least 10 kg.

“Just after I got married [in 2021], my wife spoilt me at home. I used to have six meals a day,” Khune told reporters.

“Every two minutes she’ll ask, ‘are you fine? do you want something?’ I was accepting everything that she was offering me.”

“So, I didn’t realise that I was gaining weight but a lot of people could see that. Obviously, the club has a structure and when we do the body fat percentage, there is a level we should be on and also when we do our weigh-in,” added Khune.

“So, with me, I wasn’t really focusing on my body fat percentage but I can safely say that the programme worked and now I am back to my normal self. I feel like a 12-year-old,” he continued.

“At some point, I was 94kg and went down to 84kg. I still want to go further down but I know people will say, ‘this one is sick’.

“Even the clothes and the kit I wear are loose than before. They used to be tight. I feel great and I can still compete. I want to fight for the No.1 spot here at Chiefs and hopefully get a call-up back into Bafana Bafana,” concluded Khune.
