Hunt believes that his team had more than enough chances to put the game beyond Pirates, but a lack of sharpness in front of goal and defensive lapses saw his side draw a blank yet again.

“Scoreline reads 3-1, but I mean bit unfair. I think we had the best chances,” Gavin Hunt told SuperSport after the game.

“We could have been 3-1 up ourselves. So disappointing but obviously once we had to chase it we were going to have a few problems but all in all I thought we had the best chances. We had more than enough chances to win the game.

“We’ve got to defend better. It’s the old adage of football. You’ve got to defend first. I think it’s two games now we lost when we should never have lost.

“It’s football. No one cares. We got to try and pick ourselves up. We had more than enough chances to win the game today.”

Two very good chances fell to on-loan Mamelodi Sundowns striker Phakamani Mahlambi and while Hunt admitted that he could have done better, he revealed that the forward is not 100 per cent fit.

“We should never be starting Phakamani with his condition but I had to start him because we didn’t have anyone else. He should have scored a second goal and then even when they scored he should have just laid Hana and we score. And then he had the chance on half-time to make it two so ja.”
