Mabotsa who was the first person to confirm Maselesele’s death to the media, played with the deceased at Chiefs.

Mabotsa confirmed Maselesele’s death to the media

Initial reports on Maselesele’s death emerged last week Friday, in the evening with Mabotsa on hand to confirm the news to the public. While he confirmed the death, Mabotsa stopped short of confirming exactly what had happened to Maselesele.

False claims emerged the next day

Reports then started emerging the next day, claiming that Maselesele was beaten by a mob of community members who then set off pit-bulls to finish him off. The reasons given for such actions against him were that, he had been accused of stealing electric cables in the community.

They were quickly quashed

Both his grandfather as well as former Mamelodi Sundowns came out to deny the story of him being involved in electric cables theft. Both believe that Maselesele was not killed by a “mob” as per initial media reports, but by rather a smaller group of thugs that Maselesele knew.

Now speaking to Kickoff, Mabotsa has finally come out to reveal what that small group of “thugs” was to Maselesele.

Isaac reveals the identity of the group

“No way, people are just creating stories, The story I received was that Lucky (Maselesele) and these boys knew each other. He knew who did this to him, they were his friends.” Said Mabotsa

“So for the media to report that that Lucky was stealing cables and was on drugs, I was shocked to hear that. Because from what I know he never did those things. That’s why I went all out to find out what really happened” continued Mabotsa on Maselesele.

Mabotsa also reveals more details of the extent he went to uncover the official reasons stated for the attack on Maselesele.

The official statement given by the boys

“After hearing that these boys were arrested I went to the police station to find what’s in their charge sheet. Only to find out it was the same story of stealing cables and drug use.

That’s the statement these boys gave to the police. I think they were trying to cover up whatever happened. There’s an eyewitness who saw them and called the cops and ambulance.”

Mabotsa then reiterates that until the boys confess the real reason, nobody will know why Maselesele was killed. What will remain known, however, is what they were to him.

“The bottom line is nobody really knows why he was killed. But what I know is, he was killed by his friends, by the four boys that have been arrested, not the community. “I’m still left with questions as to what he did to deserve this. Because of the way he was killed, that’s what broke my heart you see.”.

Body left in a grim state

Mabotsa also revealed the state Maselesele’s body was left in.

“He was taken to the government mortuary that was until it was found out who he was, due to the injuries he was unrecognisable. There’s no evidence that he was stealing or whatever. But at the present moment, the cops are handling the case.”

The extent of his relation with Maselesele

Mabotsa then goes further to reveal how deep his relations ran with Maselesele both in and out of football.

“It hurts me, I was heartbroken because I was very close to Lucky we grew up together. I was always with Lucky sharing a room in camps, we’ve always been together even after football. We did most of the things together because our parents worked for the same company. He was a family friend to me because I could go to their house and make my own food. Just three weeks back we even buried his mother.” Concluded Mabotsa
