Mamelodi Sundowns on the brink of another domestic crown

The Brazilians need just 11 more points from their 9 remaining matches to mathematically secure the title. Second-placed SuperSport have 11 matches to play, meaning that they can win a maximum of 33 more points. If they do that, they’d finish the campaign with 65 points. Sundowns currently have 55 so they’d only need 11 points maximum.

When can Sundowns win the title?

Masandawana face Stellenbosch, Royal AM, Cape Town City and Swallows in their next four PSL outings. They’ll have to wait a while for those fixtures though they’re next in Nedbank Cup and then CAF Champions League action. Should they win all four aforementioned league matches, they’ll be champions on April 9th. That is, provided SuperSport drop no points between now and then.

The 2022-23 season really has been a title procession, not a race. Mamelodi Sundowns don’t care one bit though.
