Golden Arrows and Kaizer Chiefs share spoils in goal-fest
A thrilling encounter between Golden Arrows and Kaizer Chiefs ended in a draw, with all four goals coming in the second half.

No winner could be determined in the clash between Golden Arrows and Kaizer Chiefs, despite four second-half goals at Sugar Ray Xulu on Saturday.
The Soweto giants came into the fixture with one goal to show for their efforts in the league this season, which came via an own goal from Chippa United’s Gregory Damons.

Standing between them and a rare strike was Abafana Besthende goalkeeper Sifiso Mlungwana, who was the standout player in the first half, denying the likes of Leonardo Castro and Khama Billiat the breakthrough.
The second half began in disaster for Kaizer Chiefs, with Willard Katsande adjudged to have fouled Zolani Nkombelo in the box. However, replays could not conclude whether or not there was any notable contact between the two players.
With no VAR in the PSL as yet, the penalty stood and Siboniso Conco made no mistake in sending Itumeleng Khune the wrong way to put Arrows in the lead in the 49th minute.
In their pursuit for the equaliser, Chiefs enjoyed a period of dominance, which culminated in a corner kick in the 57th minute after Billiat’s shot goalward was blocked by a sea of green in the hosts’ 18-yard area.
From the set-piece, the Zimbabwean international found a leaping Castro, who directed his header into the back of the net to level matters.
It took another seven minutes for the Colombian to double his tally for the day, as well as that of his team, as Gavin Hunt’s men showed a glimpse of their enterprise.
Some wonderful touches in close quarters, with Billiat, Lebogang Manyama and Philani Zulu heavily involved meant that the 30-year-old could almost walk the ball into the net.
If Chiefs brought their own peice of magic to Clermont, the hosts would not be outdone as they took just five minutes to respond. This was after a surge into the Amakhosi half, where Knox Mutizwa set up Nduduzo Sibiya, whose curling effort from outside the box eluded a despairing dive from Khune, hitting the upright before nesting at the back of the net.
That strike would be the last for the day, as victory remained hard to come by for Chiefs this season, while Arrows remain unbeaten after four games.
