George Maluleka: I am on a performance contract at Mamelodi Sundowns

George Maluleka has set the record straight regarding his salary package at Mamelodi Sundowns.

After leaving Kaizer Chiefs for Sundowns in March 2020, Maluleka was criticized for putting money before his football career as this has been the case with many players in the past.

However, the 32-year-old said he didn’t join Sundowns for money, revealing that he’s on a performance-based contract with the club, adding that he needs to work hard to play regularly.

Maluleka added that according to his contract, he can only get more money if he plays.    

“A lot of people think that I came to Sundowns because of the money but then I am on a performance contract and I only get money if I play,” KickOff Magazine.  

“I need to work hard, play, and prove how good I am by competing in the team,” he added. 

Maluleka said he is fine with the type of contract he entered into with Sundowns, saying all he wants is to play regularly in order to get the money from the club.

“It is fine for me because nothing in this life should come easy. You must work for it,” he continued.  

“A lot of people think that Sundowns is giving me big money when that is not the case. If I am getting big money, then it means I will be fine even if I am not playing. I want to play because I want that money,” concluded Maluleka.

Maluleka has featured nine times for the Brazilians so far this season, and all the matches came in the league.

Maluleka is yet to open his goalscoring account for Sundowns.

He has registered just two assists in the process.
