Lebogang Manyama’s second half opener was cancelled out by Evidence Makgopa as Kaizer Chiefs were held to a 1-1 draw at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.

“I think we played well enough to win the game, I think we deserved it but in football you don’t always get what you deserve,” Gavin Hunt told SuperSport TV.

“You know their goal was a big deflection, you know really upsetting [because] they never really had a shot at goal, yeah they did overload us in the wide areas but I mean we still had enough opportunities to win the game.

“I thought, again it’s three games in a row blatant penalties, you don’t get it in the first-half so that’s football,” he said.

“There’s two facets of the game that we gotta do better and the one is defending, you have to defend when you have to defend we had to defend better with the goal, as I said it was big deflection with the goal, disappointing.

“Because I don’t think honestly they deserve that but that’s football, you know here we go again, that’s fine. They’re strong, we’re getting better, that’s the most important thing, we played some good football at times, there was good movement, third man was good, so we just have to keep on working.

The Soweto giants remain outside the top eight, but Gavin Hunt remained confident that there was enough time for his side to secure a respectable finish.

“Every game [is important], either way wherever position you’re in but I mean we still have nine games left, there’s a long way to go, I still think we should finish well, obviously today didn’t go for us.

“Last week as well, the last week against Stellenbosch two blatant penalties you don’t get it changes the course of the game so, that’s football.

“Another tough game [against Cape Town City], obviously they haven’t played as many games as we have, obviously the closer you get to the end it wears on you, we have played a lot of games, a lot of up and down, we just have to regroup, we need a couple days off we’ve got and we’ll take it and see where we go,” Hunt concluded.

Hunt had said prior to the Baroka FC match that Kaizer Chiefs needed 17 points in their last 10 matches to finish in the top half of the table.

That now stands at 16 points in nine matches.

In addition to their 10 draws, Kaizer Chiefs have won five matches and lost six for a points total of 25.
