Both Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena and the player’s agent Glyn Binkin believe that by reuniting Mahlambi with Hunt, who worked with the 23-year-old at Bidvest Wits, could be the tonic for kick-starting his career.

Mahlambi recently joined Chippa United on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns where he is contracted until 2024.

In an interview with Soccer Laduma, Binkin said he believed that working with Hunt again could be just what the doctor ordered to get his career back on track.

“Gavin Hunt, we genuinely believe, is the person to get the best out of Phakamani. He is a very talented young man and needs to be in the right environment and surrounded by the right people.

“And I believe that under Gavin and at Chippa he will regain what he previously had that made him a special talent. Both on and off the field, no one knows him better than Gavin.

“Obviously, he’s had a tough time, but the chance to work with someone that knows him so well can certainly help Phakamani,” Binkin said.
