Matsatsantsa kicked off the season with a 1-1 draw with at home to Chippa United before a 2-1 defeat away at AmaZulu.

They followed that up with a 2-0 loss away to an in-form TS Galaxy on Sunday.

With Orlando Pirates up next for his 14th-placed DStv Premiership team, Hunt knows both side attack and defence need to step up if they are to engineer any kind of result.

Gavin Hunt said in the Sowetan: “If I have to give an honest assessment, yeah they had the ball, they (Galaxy) played but the chances we had in front of goals which we have not scored in three games, we could have been [on] nine points.

“But you have to defend better. We have not defended better and obviously the game opens up but at the end of the day I think we had the best chances but we didn’t score.”

Gavin Hunt added: “[Bradley] Grobler didn’t do a pre-season, he never trained the whole pre-season. He has been out for a long time. [Thamsanqa] Gabuza also didn’t do a pre-season, so it is what it is.

“Gabuza came in in the last 20 minutes and you could see he was a yard off. He hasn’t trained but it has been a tough week up and down, all over but there is no excuse.

“You have to score. I mean, at half-time we could have been 3-0 up, to be fair. We didn’t and they scored two goals from two restarts from a throw-in and a corner kick, which is disappointing because we pride ourselves a little bit on it [defending set pieces].”
