Gavin Hunt has claimed he knows exactly why it has been tough for him and Kaizer Chiefs this season.

However, he couldn’t disclose the reasons behind Amakhosi’s struggles and instead, rallied the team to stick together both in good and tough times.

All Hunt wants to see from his Chiefs players is to at least believe that things will get better and show it every time they take to the field.

“We go through tough times, and we stick together. It hasn’t been easy. I know the reasons why. But so be it, we have to stick together and we all have to believe and show it,” Hunt told reporters.

Chiefs gave their chances of advancing to the knockout stages of the CAF Champions League a shot with a 2-0 win over Petro de Luanda on Saturday.

And Hunt said at 1-0, he still believed Chiefs could get a second goal which they did through Happy Mashiane to move up to four points on the Group C log.

“Even in a defeat we have gone right to the end, and in the games we’ve drawn. We’ve thrown away games and again tonight [Saturday] I thought we could get a second goal to seal it, and it happened,” he said.

Hunt reiterated that ‘a lot of things have happened’ since he took over from Ernst Middendorp and he just wants to see the season to the end.

“A lot of things have happened but we’ve just got to stick together and see the season to the end,” he concluded.

Chiefs will shift their focus to the league when they visit Maritzburg United on Wednesday.

Kick-off for the encounter is at 6PM SA time.
