Former Marumo Gallants FC coach: Maybe one day I will return to PSL

In October last year, Marumo Gallants dramatically sacked coach Migne for ‘insubordination and using abusive language’ directed towards the club’s technical director Harris Choeu.

Migne took the reins on August 1 but failed to make an impression as Marumo Gallants (formally knows as Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila FC) managed only two points from their opening five DStv Premiership matches before the France-born coach was let go.

In an interview with Soccer Laduma, Migne said he enjoyed South Africa as a country and that he regarded the football standard as being high.

“I did receive one offer (in the PSL) but it was not so interesting. I don’t have any regrets by coming to South Africa to coach because your country is fantastic and the standard of your league is very good.

“The only thing is that I was not in a good place and not at a good time. Maybe one day I will come back, you know we have contacts with some people sometimes in your country and we may not know about the future.

“I experienced problems in Polokwane but it’s not the same in Jo’burg or Pretoria or in Cape Town. I cannot have any regrets, it’s a lesson and next time I will need to have more information about a club before joining them,” Migne added.

“Following a disciplinary hearing last Thursday, the 7th October 2021, Marumo Gallants FC dismissed Sebastien Minge, head coach on Sunday. Minge pleaded guilty to insubordination and using abusive language towards Technical Director, Harris Choeu. The incident happened in public, and in the presence of players and the technical team at OR Tambo International airport on a trip to Durban last weekend to play against Golden Arrows.

“As a coach his duty is to instil discipline to the team. The club followed correct disciplinary procedure and the decision to release him was made. It is unfortunate that Sebastien had to be dismissed especially at a crucial time when we are pushing to remain in the league and advance in CAF. As management we cannot go against what the DC has decided but to wish Sebastien well in his future endeavours.

“Marumo Gallants FC will be facing AS Vita from the DRC this coming Friday the 15 October 2 021 in Polokwane on a second round of CAF. Despite the current developments, the Friday match will go ahead, and the club is working hard to ensure that all CAF requirements are met including having a qualified coach. The club maintains that there is no crisis and training continue as scheduled and the technical team and players are looking forward to the next games.”
