Thibedi joined Swallows FC from Chiefs in the previous transfer window but the move has not yielded the results he would’ve been hoping for.

Thibedi never played for Chiefs’ first team

Although Thibedi never played an official first team game for Chiefs, he was still seen as somewhat of a fan favourite. This was due to his stellar, flair-filled performances for the club’s Diski Challenge side a few seasons ago. Those performances not only got him closer to the first team, but eventually earned him a loan move to Swallows in the GladAfrica Championship three seasons ago.

Thibedi quickly impressed at Swallows and found himself playing a pivotal role en-route the Dube Bird’s promotion to the DStv Premiership last season. Chiefs were then, on hand to again, offer the midfielder back to their Soweto rivals on yet another loan spell, in a move that irked a huge section of their fans, due to their admiration of the player as well as their then transfer ban.

He joined Swallows on a permanent deal

Things would get even worse for the Chiefs fans the next season when the club would confirm the sale of Thibedi to Swallows on a permanent basis. That would’ve been a difficult move for “Manando” as he is affectionally known, too but the lure for regular game time would’ve been too good to turn down.

However, in a strange turn of events, having left Chiefs to find better opportunities for game time, Thibedi has not received much of that at Swallows. Now sources speaking to The Citizen have confirmed that the player is not happy with his current situation and could soon seek another move.

Source confirms Manando’s desire for a loan move

“He is really not happy with what is going on. But, he just doesn’t know what it is that he is lacking because he knows that he works very hard and he is talented. That is why he is trying to get a loan move during the transfer window. All he wants is to play football, so this thing of watching the team struggle when you know that you can do better really gets to him. Anyway, I’m not sure if the Birds (Swallows)’ management will grant him a loan,” said the source.

Will Thibedi be able to turn his future around at Swallows? Or is a temporary move exactly what he needs?
