Forgotten Chiefs and Sundowns attacker resurfaces at Swallows!

Swallows have handed another former PSL star a career lifeline just days after signing Thandani Ntshumayelo.

Former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns attacking midfielder George Lebese is back in Soweto, this time training with Swallows FC.

His arrival at Swallows comes just days after another former PSL star and Orlando Pirates midfielder Thandani Ntshumayelo was offered a one-year deal by the Soweto outfit.

Lebese has been without a club since parting ways with US side Colorado Springs Switchbacks in March 2021.

This was after he failed to return to the US due to Covid-19 travel restrictions that were enforced by both countries at the time.

Lebese was then close to signing for Tshakuma Tsha Madzivhandila, now known as Marumo Gallants, towards the end of last season.

However, he couldn’t get his clearance from Switchbacks, and that made it impossible for him to find a new club.

Now, Lebese will be hoping to at least convince the Swallows technical team to offer him a deal in order to revive his career in the PSL.

It is worth mentioning that no local team wanted to give Lebese a second chance after he forced a move out of Sundowns in 2019.

Lebese had to spend almost a year in the wilderness before Switchbacks came to his rescue at the start of 2020.

Lebese would go on to make 13 USL appearances for Switchbacks, scoring once and registering two assists.
