With rumours swirling that Gavin Hunt might be in with a shot at coaching the South African national team, Wits will have to take every chance they get to grab the PSL points on offer.

They’ve barely been able to catch their breath after the 3-0 win against AmaZulu over the weekend and now face a Baroka side eager to prove a point.

The Clever Boys can take confidence from the fact that Baroka have beaten the just once out of their previous eight meetings, but the PSL has also shown that you can’t take anything for granted.

Sifiso Hlanti remains out injured with the knee injury he picked up while on international duty during the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, but if their defensive efforts on the opening day is anything to go by, it shouldn’t be too much trouble.

Wits top the table on goal difference after ending a run of five losses at AmaZulu by winning 3-0 in Durban.

Wits laid the AmaZulu jinx to rest decisively with first-half goals from Zimbabwean Terrence Dzvukamanja and Namibian Deon Hotto setting the 2017 champions up for success.

A powerful header by South Africa captain Thulani Hlatshwayo off a free-kick nine minutes into the second half completed an impressive showing by the visitors.

“It was a great win because our away record against AmaZulu has not been good — they hammered us 3-0 the year we won the championship,” said Wits coach Gavin Hunt.

“This was an impressive away performance and we have plenty in reserve,” added the former defender with a record-equalling four Premiership titles as a coach to his credit.

Hunt, though, wants more consistency from his squad and that will begin with two wins on the trot.
