Kaizer Chiefs are expected to undergo a winter window filled with significant changes, ahead of the next season.

Chiefs will start this process off with the incoming appointment of Nasreddine Nabi as their new coach, according to reports.

This publication has already reported that Chiefs managed to find an agreement with both Nabi and AS FAR. This will grant him an early release from his contract, with the Throne Cup semifinal against Meghraz Fes on Sunday. While he is still away, it is believed that his new assistant Fernando Da Cruz will be in charge. The Frenchmen seemed to confirm his arrival at Naturena by penning an emotional farewell letter to AS FAR.

Changes coming at Naturena

Da Cruz will then handover the reins to Nabi, upon his arrival. The Tunisian will then overseas the squad and make some big decisions. Chiefs among those will be the situation surrounding the players who’s contracts are coming to an end on 30th June

Nabi to make some big decisions on Zwane and co?

Keagan Dolly, Njabulo Ngcobo, Siyethemba Sithebe, Edmilson Dove, George Matlou, Sifiso Hlanti and Itumeleng Khune are in danger of leaving. But it is believed that it is not only the players out of contract at risk of leaving the club. Players such as Mduduzi Mdantsane and Tebogo Potsane are also thought to be at a crossroads at Chiefs. One other player that was mentioned in the same breath earlier last season is defender Zitha Kwinika.

While players who’s contracts are coming to an end, could’ve already had their futures decided, Nabi could decide on others. Out of those who will still be contracted, these five deserve a proper chances at Chiefs under a top level coach. This is because they have already shown their potential.

  1. Samkelo Zwane : The mercurial midfielder has bags of technique and potential and Nabi putting trust in him, in a proper structure could be a game changer for him and Chiefs.

2. Mduduzi Mdantsane: One of Chiefs’ best attacking performances last season was their 3-2 loss to Orlando Pirates in the Soweto Derby.  Mdantsane was at the centre of that, and also showed how quality before being suspended by the club for disciplinary reasons. Signed as the experienced playmaker, he deserves a proper run and momentum and a top coach like Nabi next season.

Attackers to thrive?

3. Christian Saile: A divisive figure among Chiefs, Saile shows a lot of speed, excitement and endeavour. What he lacks is end product. Last season, the contributed four goals and three assists. Under a quality coach like Nabi, there is hope that his game can be streamlined to be more effective.

4. Ranga Chivaviro: Arrived at Chiefs with an injury and illness and his season never took off. Just the season prior he scored 17 goals for Marumo Gallants, he clearly knows the back of the net and you don’t become a bad player over night. Nabi could be the one to show belief and ignite the spark in him.

These five deserve another chance at Chiefs?

5. Tebogo Potsane: A surprise signing out of nowhere, the nippy forward provides excitement, skill and pace. He was also doing a decent job before getting a long-term injury last season and livelier deserves at least one more chance under Nabi at Chiefs.

Do you agree with my list of Zwane, Mdantsane, Saile, Chivaviro and Potsane, Amakhosi fans? What would you change?
