According to Ntshangase’s agent, Jazzman Mahlakgane, the player handed in a request for his contract to be terminated because of his lack of game time.

“He wasn’t playing,” Mahlakgane told TheSouthAfrican.com.

“We are the ones who approached Chiefs and we asked them to release Ntshangase simply because he wasn’t playing,” he continued.

“And they accepted our request and he was freed,” concluded Ntshangase’s agent.

Asked what’s next for the 27-year-old now that he is no longer with Chiefs, Mahlakgane said: “Call me next week and I will let you know what’s happening.”

While Ntshangase is now a free agent and can enter into negotiations with a club of his choice, he is prohibited by the rules to sign with any club at this stage.

This is because he parted ways with Chiefs outside the transfer window, meaning he will have to wait for the new season to kick a ball in competitive matches.

Ntshangase left Amakhosi having featured 38 times during his three-year stint.

He registered just two assists, and a lot was expected from him when Chiefs renewed his contract for another year in 2020.
