Kaizer Chiefs made headlines for releasing some of their DStv Diski Challenge players earlier this season.

These were not just any youth players but some prominent Chiefs players, including DDC captain Omega Mdaka

Mdaka, who is a left-back, was joined on the Chiefs exit list by right-back Puso Dithejane. Chiefs released both the former skipper and the Bafana Bafana international for ill-discipline. This stemmed from the duo being part of the DDC contingent that refused to do ballboy duties for the first team.

Mdaka trained at AmaZulu after leaving Chiefs

While Mdaka is yet to find a new club since leaving Chiefs, Dithejane, was never going to struggle. He swiftly found a new home in TS Galaxy. It seemed as if Mdaka would also not have to wait long for a new home, being invited by AmaZulu. According to reports, he was offered another reserve team contract at Usuthu but opted against signing it.

That story, however, seems to be debunked by AmaZulu head coach Pablo Martin. The Spanish tactician is under the impression that both Mdaka and the club wanted the deal to go through, it was, however, a failure on the parts of Usuthu and Chiefs to agree on a transfer fee that halted things.

But now after months in the wilderness, the former Chiefs youngster could finally get a reprieve. This comes after iDiski Times reports Mdaka has been spotted training with Stellenbosch FC

Now at Stellenbosch?

“Former Kaizer Chiefs youth development Omega Mdaka has been spotted training with Stellenbosch FC. Mdaka has now resurfaced at the Cape Winelands side with the hope of getting himself a contract for the upcoming 2024/25 season.” Wrote the publication.

Stellenbosch recently revived the careers of ex-Chiefs duo Darrel Matsheke and Kgaugelo Segkota. Both helped the club win the Carling Knockout Cup, before being released for disciplinary reasons. Can Mdaka be the next to get a second chance?
