Ernst Middendorp is an IRRITATED man – and here’s WHY!

Maritzburg United coach Ernst Middendorp is “irritated” by his side’s poor defending of late.

In their last two DStv Premiership games, Maritzburg United have let in two stoppage-time goals to lose 2-1 to both SuperSport United and Royal AM.

Royal AM grabbed the winner when defender Mbhazima Rikhotso scored the winning goal four minutes into extra-time last weekend after the KwaZulu-Natal derby looked destined to end in a stalemate.

“You can say whatever you want, but we conceded in the last minute again. We conceded in stoppage time from a free-kick.

“I am not disappointed; I am irritated about what is happening. It is not funny anymore, and I do not understand this,” said Ernst Middendorp.

The Team of Choice are currently 11th in the standings after six matches with six points thanks to two victories and four defeats.

Middendorp suggested his side were playing well overall, but were being punished in defence due to lack of concentration late in games.

“We are playing well and threatening the opposition with nice build-ups.

“However, the defence is a cause for concern. They [Royal] had two shots on target and won the game because we could not concentrate for the whole game.

“You cannot lose a game like that. It is a little bit irritating from my side. I am not happy about this,” added Ernst Middendorp.

After the upcoming FIFA international break, Maritzburg United will face Orlando Pirates at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Wednesday, 20 October.

Kick-off is at 17:30.
