Of those four matches, three ended in draws, meaning there was only one winner – and one big-name loser.

On Friday, Orlando Pirates and AmaZulu played to a 1-1 draw, as did Golden Arrows and Stellenbosch FC.

On Saturday, Richards Bay and Maritzburg United couldn’t be separated in their KwaZulu-Natal derby, with the final scoreline reading 0-0.

The only victor this weekend was Chippa United who pulled off a stunning late 2-1 win over Kaizer Chiefs at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns lead the way in the standings on goal difference from Richards Bay, and crucially also have two matches in hand.

At the bottom, Maritzburg United remain the 16th and last team.
