The season had its highs and low – and when all was said and done, had the same team walking away with the title.

Mamelodi Sundowns were crowned champions for a fifth consecutive season and there’s no reason to believe they won’t defend their title next campaign.

Masandawana will be joined by runners-up Cape Town City FC in the CAF Champions League next season, while Royal AM and Marumo Gallants will represent Mzansi in the CAF Confederation Cup.

The eight teams who finished in the top half of the table and thus qualified for the MTN8 next season were Mamelodi Sundowns, Cape Town City FC, Royal AM, Stellenbosch FC, Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates, AmaZulu and SuperSport United.

At the bottom of the log, Baroka FC were relegated to the GladAfrica Championship, while Swallows have entered the promotion-relegation playoffs.
