However, Royal AM wrote to the PSL instructing them to halt the games and issue an official statement that the play-offs would not be going ahead as per the judgment of Acting Judge Justice Nyathi, TimesLIVE reports.

The publication claims to have seen a two-paged letter by the league’s legal representatives to Royal AM where they agree to not go ahead with the play-offs.

“Be that as it may, and due to the dispute on the correct interpretation of the Nyathi AJ order raised in your letter (set on June 16), we (PSL lawyers) are instructed that the commencement of the 2021 GladAfrica promotion/relegation play off matches between Chippa United FC and Richards Bay FC, scheduled for 3pm this afternoon (Thursday), will be postponed,” reads the letter as per TimesLIVE.

“Our client (PSL) will communicate to all affected clubs shortly. This is in no manner whatsoever an admission that your client’s (Royal AM) position is correct — it is not,” read part of the letter.

In his ruling on Monday night, Judge Nyathi suspended the commencement of the play-offs pending the final determination of Royal AM’s application for leave to appeal.

Royal AM are appealing Gauteng high court deputy judge president Roland Sutherland’s ruling that Sekhukhune be granted the three points awarded to them by the Arbitrator in their case involving Polokwane City.

The awarding of the points took Sekhukhune above Royal AM on the GladAfrica Championship standings but the Durban-based side vowed to challenge the verdict and delay the start of the 2021-22 season.

And as things stand, it appears the start of the new season will indeed be delayed.
