As the January transfer window draws to a close, it has seemed unlikely that Chiefs will be making any more player signings. However, there is always a chance that there could be some last-minute developments, with Amakhosi reportedly keeping an eye on Richards Bay keeper Salim Magoola.

Soccer Laduma reports that the impressive form of Magoola this season has drawn interest from quite a few clubs, and although Chiefs are one of them, this may only be with the interest of considering an approach at the end of the 2022-23 campaign.

“The player has been in great form for Richards Bay and it is not a surprise that there are big clubs showing interest,” a source told the publication.

Meanwhile, there have been some interesting reports about two Stellenbosch players who were said to be on the radar of Kaizer Chiefs.

Amakhosi were believed to be interested in two players from Stellenbosch, Junior Mendieta and Sibongiseni Mthethwa, but The Citizen report that Stellies are unlikely to entertain any offers right now.

Mthethwa was said to be viewed as a good replacement for Njabulo Blom, while Mendieta would have been a solid option in midfield, but as Stellenbosch now face a battle to stay out of the relegation zone it’s understandable they won’t want to lose any players.

In other rumoured transfer talk, the imminent arrival of Thatayaone Ditlhokwe could soon see Kaizer Chiefs opt to offload another player before the next season.

Ditlhokwe will only join Chiefs next season, which comes amidst reports that Amakhosi are apparently ready to part ways with defender Austin Dube, who has not been in favour under coach Arthur Zwane.

“The club has instructed his camp to find him a team. With the signing of Thatayaone Ditlhokwe from SuperSport United, everyone can see now that Dube will not play, a source told Soccer Laduma.

There have recently been other Chiefs player rumours

Young Chiefs midfielder Sabelo Radebe could reportedly be loaned out after battling for regular game-time with Amakhosi.

Radebe, 22, is a highly-regarded young prospect, but has played very little for the senior side and there may be worries that his career is beginning to stagnate.

The youngster is under contract until June 2026 on a long-term deal, and while Chiefs wouldn’t want to bid farewell to ‘Bibo’ permanently, Soccer Laduma reports that he could be sent out on loan.

It’s suggested that Radebe is highly sought-after, but that Stellenbosch could end up being the destination for Radebe, with the club having developed a strong working relationship with Chiefs.

“There was an opportunity for Bibo to go out on loan last season already,” the Soccer Laduma source commented. “He wanted to stay and fight for his place under (Arthur) Zwane. Now there could possibly be a Stellies option on the table for him.”
