Daine Klate sets lofty goal for Chippa United: Winning the DStv Premiership title!

New Chippa United coach Daine Klate has set a lofty goal for his Gqeberha-based team this season – winning the DStv Premiership title!

The former Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United winger made his debut as Chilli Boys boss last Sunday as his side came away with a more than creditable away 1-1 draw with Gavin Hunt’s Matsatsantsa outfit.

Klate said he is not interested in just settling in as Chippa United coach in his first season, but instead wants to mount a title challenge.

“I want to win the league that’s where I want to end the season,” said Klate, as quoted by Kickoff.

“We are doing this to win. If you ask me where I would like to end the season, I will be happy to be number one, that’s my mentality.

“But obviously the game has to take its course, we can’t predict things.

“All we need to do is to be better than last season whether we win a trophy or not, but at least we need to finish better than last season.

“I am one of those people who looks at matches won, matches lost, we have to win more games than defeats, that’s more important for me.”

Chippa United face a tough next match at home against Royal AM on Wednesday, 10 August at 19:30.
