According to Sunday World, Basomboli – who plays for Nchanga Rangees in Zambia – is on trial with Chiefs as they look to assess if he would be a good fit at the club.

The somewhat unknown forward is said to be a “mobile left-footed striker who is also comfortable coming from the wing, on either side of the pitch.”

Recently, there have been clear indications that Chiefs could look to make a couple more squad additions in the next transfer window, with Amakhosi still far from the finished product.

Furthermore, Chiefs’ relative lack of depth in terms of strike-power has been exposed after an injury worry over Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana, who has been carrying a considerable weight of responsibility on his shoulders.

Coach Arthur Zwane has previously made no secret of the fact Chiefs are at least in the process of fine-tuning a profile of possible players – and particularly strikers – they may look to target in the next transfer window.

On the striker front, further interesting reports have emerged to link Chiefs with Montenegro’s striker Boris Kopitovic, who is currently playing in the Singapore Premier League for Tampines Rovers.

However, according to KickOff.com, the 28-year-old has agreed to new improved terms with Rovers, and the only way any move could materialise is if Chiefs are willing to splash out on a transfer fee.

All signs suggest this is no longer a likely prospect for Chiefs, although it’s believed there are other players that still remain firmly on the radar of the club.

Teams have already begun to return to training as preparation begins for an incredibly busy set of fixtures heading into the new year, with Chiefs set to take on eighth-placed Golden Arrows on Saturday, 31 December (kick-off at 15:30).

Here are the fixtures you can look forward to at the end of December:
