Kaizer Chiefs are believed to be pressing ahead with player recruitment ahead of next season, according to the latest reports.

Chiefs may not have a coach announced as yet, but they will not let that delay them from making signings.

It’s expected that Chiefs will soon announce Nasreddine Nabi as their new coach. He is then also expected to bring his own coaching staff. That coaching staff will then be given the tools to succeed at the club. This by dipping into the market to sign quality players. But while they wait for that to be confirmed, they seem to be intent on helping them arrive to half of the job done.

Chiefs looking to sign Thikazi

According to Soccer-Laduma, Chiefs have already opened talks with Royal AM attacker Mfundo Thikazi!

“For now, it’s just interest. Yes. Chiefs have shown interest in the player and we will see when the team returns from the break for preseason training and camp to see what will happen. “It’s not the first time that Chiefs have shown interest in Thikazi. Last season before they signed Tebogo Potsane they actually wanted him but Royal AM could not let him go. But at the moment it looks like they will let him go,” said one source.

Royal AM are currently facing a FIFA ban, that could then determine whether or not they’ll sell Thikazi to Chiefs.

Royal AM situation to hinder the deal

“The one thing that could block or delay the move for Mfundo (Thikazi) to Kaizer Chiefs would be Royal AM not wanting to lose a player while they can’t sign new ones. So, they are trading carefully on this one and though Chiefs have made inquires, it will be a difficult decision for Royal AM to make right now as they don’t have enough experienced players going into the new season. They don’t want to find themselves in the same situation like last season fighting against relegation until the last day of the season,” said the source.
