Surprise! Chippa enter race to sign Sundowns legend

Latest transfer update: Chippa United are reportedly getting ready to pounce on a star Mamelodi Sundowns first team player!

Chippa United have reportedly identified Mamelodi Sundowns veteran Denis Onyango as a key transfer target ahead of next season.

The Eastern Cape side are set to lose their star goalkeeper Stanley Nwabili in the coming weeks.

Second choice goalkeeper Lloyd Kazapua has also been linked with a move to Sekhukhune United.

And now, the club are reportedly keen on signing 39-year-old Denis Onyango from Mamelodi Sundowns to fill in the gaps.

The Ugandan legend made just nine appearances for Sundowns last season. Onyango’s incredible journey at the club now appears to be over with reports suggesting his contract won’t be extended at the club while Ricardo Goss is expected to return to the club following his loan spell at neighbours SuperSport United.

Chippa keeping a close eye on Sundowns legend

“Chippa United are facing a bit of shake-up in their goalkeeping department. They are searching for an experienced goalkeeper,” a source told FARPost regarding the Sundowns legend.

“They have identified Denis Onyango as the perfect replacement should Nwabali and Kazapua leave during this transfer window.

“Onyango has a lot of experience and he won every trophy on offer. His presence can change the mentality of everyone at the club.”

In other news, Mamelodi Sundowns have reportedly opened talks with a star Angolan attacker.

Petro De Luanda star Miguel Gilberto could soon find himself in the South African top-flight. That’s if Mamelodi Sundowns get their way!

The 23-year-old is one of the hottest properties in Angolan football. He already has 13 national team appearances to his name, four of which coming at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.

The speedy winger is also attracting interest from Europe however inside sources claim Mamelodi Sundowns are ready to break the bank for their target.

The source further went on to claim that Sundowns are willing to engage in a bidding war with an un-named Belgian side over Gilberto’s services.”
