Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, Sabelo Radebe, Happy Mashiane, Reeve Frosler, Keletso Sifama, Bruce Bvuma and Thabo Mokoena all received new contracts that will see them stay with Amakhosi for the foreseeable future.

Mashiane, who has come through the youth ranks at the club, has now spoken out after putting pen to paper on a contract that will see him stay at Naturena until the end of June 2024.

“I am very honoured and happy to have renewed my contract with my club Kaizer Chiefs. I went home after penning my extension. I went to see the family, having improved my contract, and they were all very pleased for me,” Mashiane told the club’s website.

The young defender made his debut for Chiefs in January 2019 and has already built up a wealth of experience on the African continent and in the Premier Soccer League.

“So far, so good. I just need to work hard so that I can achieve more. I came to Chiefs at the age of 16 so I am enjoying my stay. Things are not rosy for us right now, but they will change. The team might not be doing so well at the moment, but I know this is home and I have to work hard to achieve what I want for me and the team,” Mashiane added.

With 26 appearances for Chiefs in all competitions, the 24-year-old will be looking to continue his upward trajectory on the local football scene.

“We all know when we come to Chiefs you must win trophies. We have not won anything in seven years. My ambition is to take the club back to its glory days. Hard work is going to take us back to the top,” Mashiane says frankly.

This weekend that quest continues in the Nedbank Cup, a tournament in which he made his senior Chiefs debut against Tornado FC in January 2019 in a 1-0 round of 32 win.

“We have a history against TS Galaxy in the Nedbank Cup. Them defeating us in the final in 2019 was not nice. We know how good they are and how they play. Every game we play against TS Galaxy is like a final after what happened in 2019 and the way the team felt after that final,” concluded Mashiane.
