Kaizer Chiefs inflicted a fourth successive league defeat on Richards Bay with a 1-0 win at the King Goodwill Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi in a DStv Premiership clash on Saturday.

However, one of the talking points was the unfortunate reaction from some Amakhosi supporters, who apparently booed Bimenyimana after expressing their frustrations with his performance in the second half in particular.

The forward, who has battled to get back to his best form after some injury struggles, had only just returned to the starting lineup on Saturday before eventually being replaced by Wandile Duba.

After the match, Zwane appeared to indicate his decision to replace Bimenyimana was based on the reaction he was getting from some sections of the crowd.

“As coaches you always want your players to be in the right frame of mind all the time,” he said, as quoted by FARPost. “And you look at him how he responded that time. Does that maybe give him a boost to say ‘you know what I’m gonna give my best until I get a goal or I’ll help the team’.

“But once you see the body language getting a little bit sloppy, then obviously that’s a sign to say let me save [substitute] him, that’s my job. You understand what I’m saying. Then, back to the drawing boards or training again and we work on him. He’s a good player, he’ll do something, and he’ll help us going forward. I have no doubt about that.”
