It’s clear that Chiefs need some more firepower up front, and it’s added extra anticipation after the club confirmed the signing of Congolese 22-year-old left-footed striker Christian Saile Basomboli, who arrives in Naturena after penning a three and half year deal with the Glamour Boys.

Basomboli only started training fully with his new Chiefs teammates this week, while it’s understood that his work permits also need to be sorted out first before becoming available to play.

However, Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane has now explained why this signing was seen as such a good one.

“You look at the aggression that I’m talking about, the composure inside the box. Psychologically, he’s very strong. Let alone physically, he’s the type of striker that you need when you want to play high pressing games, he’ll easily adapt,” he said, as quoted by SABC Sport.

Meanwhile, with the January window soon set to close, it remains to be seen whether Chiefs might make some more moves, having already announced the pre-contract deal for Thatayaone Ditlhokwe, who will join from SuperSport United at the end of the season.

So, what else could Chiefs be cooking up in the transfer market? Well, according to Bobby Motaung, there could be some plans in progress.

“It is never done until it’s over,” he told KickOff.com. “But at the moment we are still busy. We don’t know yet how many players we might add, it depends what the needs are and what might be available on the market.”
