Chiefs are fourth on the DStv Premiership log

Recently, there have been clear indications that Chiefs could look to make a few more squad additions in the next transfer window, with Amakhosi still far from the finished product.

However, whether that means the club will dip into the January transfer market remains to be seen.

As is so often the case, numerous players have been linked to Chiefs, but it will be very interesting to see how many actually end up at Naturena.

Coach Arthur Zwane has previously made no secret of the fact Chiefs are at least in the process of fine-tuning a profile of possible players – and particularly strikers – they may look to target in the next transfer window.

Hungarian striker Balint Bajner, who has previously spent time at the likes of Borussia Dortmund and West Ham, has interestingly been linked to Chiefs – although this talk has quietened down recently – while Bradley Cross has spent time training at Naturena.

It’s become an open secret that Amakhosi were very keen on bringing defender Luke Fleurs to the club early next year, but most recently it’s been reported that he has signed a new contract extension with SuperSport.

Further interesting reports have emerged to link Chiefs with Montenegro’s striker Boris Kopitovic, who is currently playing in the Singapore Premier League for Tampines Rovers, but this overseas deal of his was set to expire on 31 December 2022.

The list of rumoured players linked to Chiefs also includes the likes of Marumo Gallants attacker Celimpilo Ngema, although he has laughed off these reports, while there was a buzz about Katlego Otladisa before that ultimately died down.

Sibongiseni Mthethwa had apparently been identified by Kaizer Chiefs as one of the players the club will go for in the next transfer window, but Stellenbosch are now working on a new contract for him.

Fabrice Ngoma, Thabo Cele and Junior Dion are also among the other names that have swirled around, which – if nothing else – have at least made for an interesting and prolific Chiefs rumour mill.
