While it seemed like Shozi had a promising future in the game, many would’ve been perplexed as to why or how he would threaten to throw it all away by disappearing.

Why he spiralled out of control

Now a source speaking to The Citizen has revealed how what led to Shozi’s actions.

“Shozi is back home in KwaZulu-Natal, he is recovering well and has all the support that he needs. He has been speaking about the things that led him to doing drugs and the guys he thought were his friends are the ones who got him to take drugs.” Said the source.

The source would then continue by stating that he was perplexed as to why Shozi would have been associated with such bad influences in the first place.

“It’s shocking because these guys don’t even play football, I don’t know how he became friends with them, it’s really worrying. I really hope that when he is fully recovered he won’t be going back to his old self and doing drugs,” concluded the source.

What’s next?

What would perhaps, make things worse is that, Shozi was regarded as the breadwinner in his family already. His brother, Simphiwe revealed that their mother was ill and the family is not in a good place financially as it stands. He also revealed his hope for his brother to one day return to the field of play, and in doing so, be able to put some bread on the table for his family.
