Former Orlando Pirates player Mpho Makola has got himself into hot water with the PSL after footage was released exposing the player pushing an official.

Former Orlando Pirates player Mpho Makola has got himself into hot water with the PSL after footage was released exposing the player pushing an official.

According to KickOff’s website, Makola was seen shoving an official during the MTN8 final against Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Cape Town City player is currently being investigated by the PSL for his actions. Makola was infuriated at the official because he believed Sundowns goalkeeper, Denis Onyango, was off his line during the penalty shoot-out.

Whether or not Onyango was encroaching is open to debate, what is not is Makola’s actions.
Pushing an official is unacceptable is not okay, no matter who you are. SAFA head of referees, Abdul Ebrahim made this very clear.
“So let’s first go through that report, but then you must know that no one, I don’t care who they are, in football they are not allowed to touch match officials,” reported Ebrahim.
The 35-year-old PSL veteran should certainly know better, he let his emotions get the better of him and has now landed himself in hot water with the PSL.
Makola was caught red-handed on camera and will not get any special treatment for his name or history.
