Cassius Mailula grateful after making Mamelodi Sundowns’ debut

Mamelodi Sundowns youngster Cassius Mailula has reflected on his debut for the PSL giants against Chippa United.

Mamelodi Sundowns youngster Cassius Mailula has reflected on his debut for the club against Chippa United on Wednesday evening.

The 21-year-old was brought on late in the second half in a match where Peter Shalulile found the back of the net in stoppage time to claim a 1-0 victory for Bafana Bastyle.

Mailula, whose dream while growing up was to play with Themba Zwane, finally got the chance to rub shoulders with Mamelodi Sundowns’ playmaker.

MAILULA ON HIS DEBUT

“It was a very tough game cause we had to grind, grind and they were not opening the holes in the midfield,” Mailula told Sundowns media.

“As you could see in the game that we even scored via a corner [kick].

“So I am very happy that we actually won today’s game especially in my debut.

“I was excited about the game because I could see that the team needed someone like me in terms of more attack in the final third.

“I was feeling confident that I could give more for the team, I am very grateful for the opportunity, I am very happy about making my debut today.”

The Brazilians are now sitting at the summit of the DStv Premiership table and will be looking to cement their spot when they host Golden Arrows at Tuks Stadium on Saturday, 10 September.
