Sphelele Mkhulise, Grant Kekana, and Cassius Mailula (brace) all netted as Sundowns gained MTN8 revenge over Pirates on the night.

In doing so, the Brazilians became the first team to win the revamped Carling Black Label Cup which was played by four teams for the first time in its history.

HOW MUCH DID MAMELODI SUNDOWNS BANK IN THE CARLING BLACK LABEL CUP?

Mamelodi Sundowns banked a whopping R3 million for their efforts in the Carling Black Label Cup on Saturday.

They went into the tournament guaranteed of R2 million participation fee, and so were Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and AmaZulu.

Carling Black Label added another R1 million to Sundowns for winning the Cup with the cheque given to them immediately after their win over Pirates.

Sundowns are likely to return the trophy to the organizers at the start of next season’s Carling Black Label Cup as the format will be different to this season.

The Carling Black Label Cup will be played by all 16 PSL teams next season in a knockout format as it replaced the Telkom Knockout Cup.
