Cape Town Spurs serious about PSL promotion as they sign ex-Pirates star

Cape Town Spurs are serious about gaining promotion next season after adding another experienced campaigner to their ranks.

Cape Town Spurs are serious about gaining promotion to the DStv Premiership next season after adding another experienced campaigner to their ranks.

On Sunday, Spurs confirmed the acquisition of former Orlando Pirates, SuperSport United and AmaZulu midfielder Michael Morton.

Morton joins another experienced campaigner in Clayton Daniels who arrived at Spurs following his departure from Maritzburg United.

The duo will play alongside younger players such as Boitumelo Radiopane who is on loan for the new season from Pirates.

Morton, 33, was most recently on the books of Cape Town All Stars, and his contribution was immense as the Mother City-based made it to the playoffs.

Coach Shaun Bartlett is no stranger to First Division football as he previously masterminded Golden Arrows’ return to topflight football.

And he knows exactly what Spurs need to gain promotion from the now Motsepe Foundation League to the DStv Premiership.

Spurs were almost relegated last season as they finished 14th after 30 games but Bartlett arrived midway through the season to try and save them which he did.
