Cape Town City and Black Leopards do battle at Cape Town Stadium on Friday with plenty at stake. Both teams are fresh from promising results, but neither is yet safe from relegation.

The hosts sit 12th on the table, three points above bottom, but the same distance off the top eight. Jan Olde Riekerink masterminded a 2-0 win over Bidvest Wits on Saturday and will be hoping to kick on.

“They [the players] showed‚ even under difficult circumstances‚ that they can play and we did well. Physically we were good‚ and we deserved to win. We were the better team,” Olde Riekerink said as quoted by SowetanLIVE.

“Both goals were very good. It is always about anticipation‚ that is where Kermit [Erasmus] did well‚ the finishing was very good.”

Erasmus netted the opener for Cape Town City with Craig Martin’s goal putting the cherry on the cake.

Black Leopards are 14th on the table, hovering above the relegation zone on goal difference. Cavin Johnson picked up his first point since replacing Luc Eymael as coach as Lidoda Duvha drew 1-1 to league leaders Kaizer Chiefs.

“There’s lot going through your head, at the moment a lot of emotions for the players as well, you played the log-leaders and you get one point at home, it’s like winning the game but for me it’s about did we play well?” Johnson told SuperSport TV.

“I thought we kept the ball on the floor a little bit, I thought we gave away a silly goal but we were able to get back and do the best we can but for me I’ve been waiting for this from Black Leopards for about four games now since I’m here.”
