Fasika will offer Cape Town City more international experience at the back, alongside club captain and Bafana Bafana international Thamsanqa Mkhize, with the powerfully built star having earned four international appearances for his country during the African Nations Championship which took place earlier this year.

They paid the big bucks

Furthermore, it is claimed that Cape Town City had paid a pretty penny for Fasika. Reports have indicated that it cost the club $50 000 (R700 000) to get the player to Cape Town.

The signing of Fasika follows the acquisitions of two goalkeepers in Bafana Bafana international Darren Keet who signed on as a free agent, as well Bongani Mpandle who reunites with his former Maritzburg United coach, Eric Tinkler who has returned for his second stint at Cape Town City.

The club has five new signings as it stands

Cape Town City had also announced two more acquisitions who came from the GladAfrica Championship, in the form of young defender Patrick Fischer from Cape Town Spurs as well as Katlego Mokhuoane from Free State Stars.

It now remains to be seen whether Fasika and co. will be the last signing made by Cape Town City during this transfer window, as Tinkler plots a powerful return to the side, and could potentially be looking to prove a point to his employers in the process as well.

The Kinshasa-born Fasika will hope to hit the ground running on South African shores, with a regular spot at the heart of the City sure to be his target for the upcoming season. What type of impact are you expecting him to make in the league?
