Comitis had been very vocal about Cape Town City not honouring their make up fixture with Chiefs last month, but the game eventually went ahead.

Background story

The issue stems from Chiefs pulling out of the originally scheduled home fixture against Cape Town City, due to large Covid-19 cases. After much confusion, SAFA eventually granted the Glamour Boys their two make up fixtures against both City and Golden Arrows. They would go on to lose both those fixtures but the damage had already been done for Comitis, as his threats to pull his team out of the fixture had already landed him in hot water.

Comitis then appeared before the the PSL Disciplinary Committee on Thursday, where he was charged for bringing the league into disrepute. These charges come at the back of the remarks he had made to the media after the case outcome between Chiefs and City. It has now been confirmed by the PSL prosecutor Zola Majavu that Comitis has pleaded guilty and subsequently been fined heavily.

Comitis fined and ordered to send apology to Chiefs

“He (Comitis) is fined a monitory amount of R80 000, of which amount is holy suspended for a period of 12 months on condition that during the period of suspension that he is not found guilty of the same offence,” Majavu said,  speaking through the PSL’s media department.

In addition to that, Comitis was also asked to send a written letter to Chiefs to apologise. If that was not adding insult to injury, it was then further confirmed that he would be ordered to pay the cost of the two sittings.

Cape Town City can still get their revenge on Chiefs for the proceedings, by ensuring that they win their last match of the DStv Premiership season on Saturday, to ensure they rob Amakhosi out of a CAF Champions League spot.
