However, four of the six months have been suspended, meaning Makola will only serve a two-month ban effective from 1 February 2022.

Makola’s suspension will come to an end on 31 March 2022, and what that means is that Cape Town City can only use him from 1 April 2022.

Furthermore, Cape Town City were also handed a suspended R20 000 fine on condition that the same incident doesn’t happen within the next 24 months.

CAPE TOWN CITY SUFFER MAKOLA BLOW AFTER TWO-MONTH SUSPENSION

“I can confirm that the case pertaining to Mpho Makola, the player of Cape Town City, who was found guilty as charged pertaining to his conduct in pushing the match official Mr. Baloyi in a fixture was sanctioned as follows by the disciplinary committee together with his club,” said Majavu in the statement.

“Cape Town City Football Club, as the employer and the club which Makola played and was fixtured for on the day was fined R20 000 which is fully suspended on condition that the same club is not found guilty of a similar misconduct for a period of 24 months calculated from the date of the ruling, which is 21 December 2021.

“With regards to Mr Makola, he is suspending from participating in any football activities under the auspices of the league or SAFA for a period of six months, four months of which are suspended which effectively means he would serve an effective two months suspension which will be reckoned from 1 February 2022 and expire on the 31st March 2022.

“This is acknowledging the fact that during the January period, the league would not be in session due to the Afcon. The balance of the four months which are suspended, are suspended on the condition that during the next 18 months from the date of the ruling he is not found guilty of similar misconduct.

“If he were to be found guilty of similar misconduct before the expiry of 18 months, he will automatically have to serve the four months for which he was suspended and he will still be sanctioned for that new offence.

“Both Mr Makola and his club are ordered to pay the cost of the DC, which the league will calculate and send to both of them.”
