Former Bidvest Wits and Bafana Bafana defender Buhle Mkhwanazi is on the verge of making a return to the PSL, for a rather surprise team!

Former Bafana Bafana and Bidvest Wits defender Buhle Mkhwanazi is set make a return to football after spending an entire season on the sidelines!

Buhle Mkhwanazi has reportedly began training with a surprise club in the form of SuperSport United and will likely return to the playing field for the first time in almost a year.

Bidvest Wits were sold to Limpopo businessman Masala Mulaudzi at the end of the 2019/20 campaign and number of the star Clever Boys found new homes almost immediately however a handful remained behind at the newly bought side as part of the broader package.

One such player that remained behind was Bafana Bafana defender Buhle Mkhwanazi. Mkhwanazi was one of the star Bidvest Wits players that remained part of the package deal that Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila struck with Bidvest Wits however, the club failed to meet his salary expectations.

Mkhwanazi did not take to the field for Tshakhuma for the entire season and instead, the two were deadlocked in court proceedings over unpaid salaries. He however is now set to return to the PSL!

Buhle Mkhwanazi begins training with Supersport United

“The Siya crew has been led to believe that the defender is now in talks with SuperSport United over a potential deal, with coach Kaitano Tembo keen to have the 31-year-old bolster his squad ahead of the new campaign.” a SoccerLaduma report read regarding Buhle Mkhwanazi.

“There is no rush because the player is a free agent, but indications are that Mkhwanazi has already started training with Matsatsantsa and that Tembo wants him to stay permanently.”

Mkhwanazi was linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs while former mentor Gavin Hunt was coaching the club however as things stand, SuperSport United lead the race to land the experienced defender’s signature ahead of the new campaign.
