Royal AM owner Shauwn Mkhize has fallen foul of the Premier Soccer League again, this time being charged for bringing the PSL into disrepute.

Mkhize has been engaged in a running battle with the PSL over the handling of the promotion saga at the tail-end of last season which saw her club denied automatic promotion.

The charges levelled against Mkhize relate to her conduct during the legal battle, when Royal AM refused to honour their promotion/relegation fixtures.

During that row, Mkhize and her media team put together a video calling into question the actions of the PSL, who ignored a court order obtained by Royal AM to halt the playoffs, suggesting that there were elements of racism and sexism in play.

The PSL claim they ignored the order because it was rendered void by subsequent rulings, and so far the league have succesfully countered all legal action taken against them by Royal AM.

In this video, Mkhize makes these allegations, which the PSL believe has brought the league into disrepute.

“From where I am sitting, why was Judge Sutherland’s ruling respected? Is it because he’s a white man?” Mkhize asks in the video.

“And why is Judge Nyathi’s ruling not being respected? Nyathi has ruled, and his ruling is very clear.

“If you look into [law firm] Webber Wentzel’s letter to us, they are quoting it. Here it is guys — maybe look at it yourselves. Maybe there’s something I can’t see guys, maybe I’m blind, but his [Nyathi’s] ruling is very clear.

“It’s saying it’s an interim order, and it’s saying that everything must be on hold pending the leave to appeal. The leave to appeal has been done, but the appeal is not done. It has been launched already.

“Guys, I refuse to be bullied, especially about something that is so crucial. I am a law-abiding citizen and I don’t want to be arrested. And I can’t go and do something that I know is in contempt.

“I’m sorry — I know all of you are looking forward to me going to play those games, but I am not going to play those games.”

Royal AM avoided sanctions for their walk-offs as the sale of their franchise to TTM meant that the suspended fine fell on the new owners, while the Durban club absorbed Bloemfontein Celtic and joined the top-flight anyway.

The club are yet to comment on the new charges laid against Mkhize.
