Chiefs are thought to be hard at work trying to bolster their playing squad and fresh reports now claim they’re back in negotiations with Cape Town City for Mduduzi Mdantsane

Chiefs were close to signing Mdantsane

It is now no longer a secret that Chiefs approached City in January, in the hopes of prizing away the services of Mdantsane. It is said that the initial approach was for a loan deal with an option to buy at the end of the season. The move was reportedly so close that even Citizens coach Eric Tinkler came out to the media saying he had already admitted defeat.

Having been already resigned to losing one of his key players, Tinkler was then met with a pleasant surprise the move taking Mdantsane to Chiefs fell through for an unknown reason on January transfer deadline day.  Whatever, happened between the two clubs may yet remain a mystery for a quite a long time to come, but what won’t is the fact that both City and Amakhosi are back on the negotiations table, in an effort to revive this deal, according to IdiskiTimes

“This publication has now been informed that Amakhosi are back in negotiations to sign the South Africa international midfielder for the upcoming 2023/24 season. Talks are ongoing regarding the deal between the two clubs but no deal has been struck as of yet, with the player’s contract expiring in 2024, after City exercised a one-year option before the turn of the year.” Wrote their website.

They go on to further state that Mdantsane himself rejected a move already agreed by City and Sekhukhune United, because he wants to return to Chiefs, a club he was part of the development structures of. If the latest indications are anything to go by, it seems as if the left-footed wizard is set to have his wish granted.
