The hard tackling midfielder wasn’t named in Sekhukhune United’s squad for the new season.

It has since been claimed that he’ll take up an ‘ambassador’ role at the club.

He lifted two League titles as well as the Nedbank Cup and MTN8.

He was bought from Ajax Cape Town (now Cape Town Spurs) by the Glamour Boys in 2011.

Kaizer Chiefs are putting together the final pieces of Arthur Zwane’s new puzzle with the new season approaching.

While they may still be a few new additions before the end of the extended transfer window, Zwane looks to have his trusted Amakhosi leaders.

The Amakhosi coach confirmed two more signings are vital (a striker and a central defender).

But with just four days left before Kaizer Chiefs play their first match of the new season, reports suggest Zwane has picked his captain and vice captain.

Arthur Zwane has confirmed that Amakhosi legend Itumeleng Khune is his designated club captain.

And if Khune is not selected in the starting lineup, there’s four other vice captain options at Kaizer Chiefs.

“As things stand Itu (Itumeleng Khune) is the captain of the club.” Kaizer Chiefs coach Zwane said at the DStv Premiership launch in Randburg.

“If Itu is in the starting XI then he will definitely be the captain. If he’s maybe on the bench, or not part of the team on the day of the game then we will see who can lead the team.

“If you look at a player like Zitha Macheke who has been part of the team from the development level then we obviously had to let him go.

“He came back to Kaizer Chiefs a different player with more experience. So he has those leadership qualities and he was the captain at Stellenbosch.

“You look at a player like Keagan Dolly and Khama Billiat. You look at Yusuf Maart. The list is long of players who have those leadership skills.”
