Those questions on the absences of Maart quickly turned into concern that Chiefs had maybe lost out on one of their primary targets. Perhaps to further heighten those fears, would have been reports from Sekhukhune that the player was still up for grabs and had not sealed any move to their DStv Premiership rivals. At some point during the window, it was also suggested by sources that the Bafana Bafana international had been mulling over the prospects of signing abroad for a Qatari-based club.

Deal finally done with Sekhukhune

Those rumours seemed to die down pretty quickly, however and were soon replaced by overwhelming details of Chiefs agreeing a fee with Sekhukhune, for the player’s services. Now in their latest statement, Amakhosi have finally announced that Maart is finally set to be part of the Amakhosi nation.

“Kaizer Chiefs have signed Yusuf Moegamat Maart on a three-year deal with a two-year option.Maart arrives from Sekhukhune FC where he spent two seasons in the GladAfrica Championship and DStv Premiership. He played a total of 29 matches in the season that has just ended and scored three goals for Babina Noko. The midfielder’s club performances have earned him nine national team call-ups between 2021 and 2022, and he is now a regular in the Bafana Bafana set-up.Maart will join the team for preseason training this week”.
