Zungu makes huge admission for when he signed for Sundowns

Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Bongani Zungu has admitted that he was NOT physically ready when he joined the club in August.

Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Bongani Zungu has admitted that he was NOT physically ready when he joined the club in August.

The lanky midfielder had been without a club for a number of months as he had just parted ways with French outfit Amiens SC.

At the time, his agent revealed that getting Zungu back to Sundowns was not easy because of the nature of negotiations with the club.

However, the deal was finally concluded although a number of teams, including Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates were believed to be eyeing Zungu.

Now, Zungu is willing to use this FIFA World Cup break to get himself back into shape, and he expects to be on the same fitness level with the rest of his Sundowns teammates when the season resumes.

ZUNGU ADMITS HE WASN’T PHYSICALLY READY WHEN HE JOINED SUNDOWNS

“When I signed for Sundowns, everything happened quickly and I wasn’t ready physically,” said Zungu as per SowetanLIVE.

“I joined with a couple of games into the season but I am happy to be back home with my family and back playing for Sundowns. I have been working very hard on my fitness. The club has helped me a lot and I feel very happy to be back here,” he added.

“I don’t feel any pressure and I am at peace, I am doing well at training and in time my best will come. I am looking forward to playing and helping the team, especially in the Champions League.”

“I am nearly there physically. The team is off and I am training and I looking forward to an exciting second round of the season after the World Cup,” added Zungu.
