Earlier this week, Chiefs reportedly suffered a major injury blow at the worst possible time as they also prepare for the second leg of the MTN8 semi-finals against AmaZulu this weekend. According to SABC Sport, star striker Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana is said have picked up an injury that will keep him out of action for the next four weeks.

Yet, in information released on Wednesday ahead of the crucial clash against TS Galaxy, coach Arthur Zwane made no mention of an injury to Bimenyimana, while adding that Itumeleng Khune was expected to be back.

Zwane on the state of the Chiefs squad:

We welcome Zitha (Kwinika) back, because Siya (Ngezana) is not available for selection. We played Khama Billiat last week and seems ready to give us more minutes. We have some players who have played a lot of games and we may look at resting some them ahead of the weekend’s cup semi-final. We need all our soldiers available for that one.

On goalkeeping changes:

Itu (Khune) is doing well at training. He looks okay at the moment; we are just hoping he is not going to experience the same problem again when we play him. Other than that, we have a clean bill of health. Everyone is available for selection.

It now remains to be seen whether Bimenyimana is indeed available for selection or whether his absence was merely overlooked in this latest report.

Chiefs have no option but to focus on bouncing back against TS Galaxy

Chiefs and Galaxy will lock horns for their first time this season, with the visitors having had more time to prepare, having last played on 8 October in a 0-0 against Swallows FC.

Chiefs are still fourth on the log and Galaxy are in 10th position.
