Kaizer Chiefs may have finally got their man Nasreddine Nabi over the line, with just an announcement pending now.

Chiefs seemed to settle on Nabi two weeks ago and have taken every step possible to get a deal done.

Chiefs and AS FAR agree Nabi fee

Nabi, however, was far from the only candidate for the Chiefs job, as many likely and unlikely names were mentioned. Vanderlei Luxemburgo, Raul Caneda and Jose Peseiro, were heavily linked, and all emerged as early favourites for the role. They were soon joined by Rui Vitoria on that list. All four seemed to disappear slowly but surely, as a new list of favourites began to emerge.

In the last month, at least five coaches had been forward or put themselves forward. The first being the shock name of TS Galaxy coach Sead Ramovic. It was claimed that Chiefs held talks with the Serb, before links to him were distanced. Straight after him was Portuguese tactician Alexandre Santos. After he had completed a treble of Angolan league titles, it seemed as if he did his hopes for the job no harm. In stark contrast, reported all time favourite Pitso Mosimane then suddenly became available after suffering relegation with Abha Club. Nabi was the biggest shock of them all however and seems to be edging close to a move.

Moroccan side already searching for replacment?

This publication reported earlier that Chiefs have reached an agreement with AS FAR for Nabi’s release. Now according to Soccer-Laduma, citing Moroccan publication Biladna 24 the club have already started looking for a replacement.

“The same report claims that FAR are already on the lookout for a new manager, having appreciated the success they have recently found with coaches like Nabi and Sven Vandenbroeck, who coached in Africa before making the move to Morocco. Currently at the top of their reported wish list is said to be ASEC Mimosas boss Julien Chevalier.” Wrote the publication.

There are more and more signs emerging that Nabi will be at Chiefs next season. How do you feel Khosi fans?
