Kaizer Chiefs legend not ready to quit

TS Galaxy attacker Bernard Parker believes his recovery from a broken leg is going well and the chances of him playing top-level football again are high. 37-year-old Parker suffered a broken leg after a tackle by Sundowns midfielder Bongani Zungu in the Carling Knockout Cup final eight. Parker says he’s feeding off the positive feedback from Galaxy chairman Tim Sukazi and manager Sead Ramovic.

Parker opens up on support from TS Galaxy

“The chances are high for Bernard Parker playing professionally because I still got a contract to honour,” he told Andile Ncube on Metro FM.

“The contract ends in June, the doctor says February/March.

“We’ll see, I’m focussing on my recovery the best I can, which I am doing very, very well.

“My chairman at TS Galaxy said to me, ‘As long as TS Galaxy exist, you’ve got a place here. What you have to do now is focus as much as you can on your recovery, and then we’ll see what happens after.

“My coach, Sead, who is a brilliant one, a wonderful person, he’s like a father figure to us, he said to me ‘Bernard, I feel like you’ve still got three years in you.

“At this level, at this age, what you’ve been doing, you still give people tough times, you still get Man of the Match performances, I still believe you’ve got three years in you’.

“I feed off positivity, I grab and I suck as much positiveness as I can and that has been helping with this road of recovery.

“We’ll see what happens after recovery. I believe in my strong mind that Die Hold will be back on the field.”
