Benni McCarthy reunites with ex-Orlando Pirates star at AmaZulu

AmaZulu have acceded to Benni McCarthy‘s demands for new players and they have made some exciting signings.

Headlining the new signings is former Orlando Pirates defender Abbubaker Mobara who joins Usuthu from Cape Town City.

Mobara had been linked with AmaZulu for a number of weeks now, and he finally left Cape Town for Durban this week.

Furthermore, Usuthu have added firepower upfront by completing the signing of South Sudanese striker Manyiel Riek Abraham Majok.

Majok, 23, was most recently on the books of Cyproit outfit PAEEK but before then, he played for Western Sydney Wanderers in Australia.

He managed two goals and a single assist in 22 matches for the Australian side but Usuthu believe he can do well for them.

MCCARTHY’S WISH GRANTED AS AMAZULU SIGN TWO PLAYERS

In December 2021, McCarthy cut a frustrated figure following AmaZulu’s 12th draw of the season, and he made a plea to the club’s management to give him new players.

And the two additions will undoubtedly excite McCarthy who will now be expected to deliver positive results when the season resumes.

“I’m desperate for new faces; I’m desperate for refreshments in the team and quality players,” McCarthy said at the time.

“You can see, 12 draws is not normal for any team. When you play the way that we play, we play expansive football where you want to dominate the opposition, and we manage to do so, but the final third is where we disappoint ourselves.”
