AmaZulu head coach Benni McCarthy has been left frustrated with what he feels is yet another ‘unfair’ Nedbank Cup draw.

The Usuthu manager is well into preparations for a grueling Nedbank Cup Round of 32 tie against Orlando Pirates which takes place on Sunday afternoon.

Benni McCarthy has already lifted the MTN8 trophy however as far as the Nedbank Cup is concerned, the Bafana Bafana legend is yet to leave his mark in the tournament.

Benni McCarthy bemoans lack of Nedbank Cup luck ahead of Orlando Pirates clash!

“I’m waiting for my Nedbank Cup dream where I can also experience the Ke Yona feeling because since I became a coach I missed it.” Benni McCarthy said.

“At Cape Town City and now at AmaZulu, every Nedbank Cup game, I either get Orlando Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns or Bidvest Wits. I’ve never been drawn against a GladAfrica Championship or lower division team.

“I don’t know if it’s written in the sky that I’m meant to play for DStv Premiership teams throughout my career while I coach in the PSL. However, we will deal with it. But it couldn’t come any tougher than Orlando Pirates,” Benni McCarthy added.

We will fight Orlando Pirates – Benni

“When I played for Orlando Pirates, I played with everything, my heart and soul,” Benni McCarthy said as quoted by IOL.

“Now I am at AmaZulu, or any team that I coach, I give the same commitment. Unfortunately, for the team that I played for, I want to do it even more.

“When I meet Orlando Pirates, I want to win wholeheartedly. That’s why there’s more passion involved. Sometimes, the passion turns into a fight. When you win, they want to fight.

“And that’s where Benni McCarthy doesn’t sit-back, we accept the invitation. But it’s all love after the game. we have a lot of respect for each other – the coach and the club.”
